Greyhound to Hell

Big blinking Warnings |
Sometimes you should really pay attention to warning signs. Especially if they are everywhere, beight red and blinking. I am talking about all the terrible review about Greyhound buses. We still ignored all the warnings advising us not to go with this bus company but it was the cheapest so we did it anyway.
Well, we should have listened to the sign but instead we made a shitty experiences ourself.
The bus from New York to Chicago should have left at 10 p.m. We have been at the bus station an hour earlier just to be sure. We got some tea and sat down in the waiting area. A few minutes before bording time we went to our bus gate and got in line. Time passed and more and more people started to queue up. At 10:30 people started to question why there is still no bus here. By that time the queue at our gate was so long it was clear not everyone could fit in the bus. Someone apparently knew that Greyhound sells more tickets than there are seats in the bus and if you don’t get one of this seats you have to wait for the next one. The word spread and things started to get ugly. People tried to sneak into the line from everywhere and with every possible excuse. One furious lady even headed to the top of the line and screamed: ‚I am paying taxes, I have a right to be here!‘. Soon everybody shouted or argued to defend their place in the queue.
An hour later the arguements stopped and people turned their anger against the bus company because the bus was already over two hours late. Officials working at the bus station couldn’t tell us what was going on. All we got was ‚the bus is delayed’. Well, thanks Mr. obvious.
Soon after the first People started to leave. We also checked if we have other options to get to Chicago but flights were all cancelled that day, trains would take forever and other buses would leave tomorrow night which was to late for us.
So we stayed. Probably another hour later a bus arrived picking up people who had to go to ... Now less than half the people were left and one after the other gave up and left. Due to a lack of options we still decided to wait. We made friends with others who waited and around 1 a.m. we got the information that we don’t have a bus nor a bus driver but they are searching. We made ourselves comfortable on the floor and tried to get some sleep. Finally at four in the morning the bus arrived. Happily we fell into our bus seats more or less ready for our 18 hour bus ride.
