Lake Michigan Trip

Hopping from city to city on the East Coast felt not enough, we wanted to see more of the land. Therefor we decided to rent a car and drive around Lake Michigan. We searched for the cheapest car rental and selected the cheapest option on the website: Surprise car which means the company decides what car you get. Expecting the oldest car the company had we entered the rental store to pick it up. Surprise, Surprise! A brand new black Jeep Wrangler! Niklas and me smiled for the rest of the night sitting in our new drive. We planned to drive for three day and to camp wild which went medium well. The first night a park ranger woke us up telling friendly to leave the park. At least we found a charming, pretty classic diner for breakfast. Huge pancakes, fresh French Toast and refill coffee.

This day we drove up to Boyne Mountain. A kind of special place for me because my grandparents worked there as ski instructors when they were young and rebellious.. Speaking of rebellious, here we slept on the parking area of the ski resort and again we got woken up by a ranger telling us to leave. He was friendly too.
On the next day we drove along the sand dunes and through a few small towns up north. We did not have any camping/cooking equipment on this trip so we had to eat in restaurants. We stopped in one with a sign saying 'Tavern Tuesday' for dinner and had the best burgers so far. Afterwards we drove until dark to get as close as possible to Chicago. The housesit we had there would start tomorrow. We decided to spend the night in an empty parking area next to an abandoned factory. We are to tired to search for some place better but surprisingly it is the only night we were able to sleep without getting sent away. The last day we jump into Lake Michigan for a quick swim before returning the car. On this roadtrip we saw a lot of Americas landside, beautiful landscapes and a lot of Trump 2020 signs.
Pancakes everyday for me
