After a weekend of relaxing in our flat in México City we were ready to visit the Immigration Office first thing on Monday. Beforehand the Austrian Embassy sent us an email with the address and possible information we would need. So we reached the Instituto Nacional de Migración well prepared but when the Uber drove around the corner we could not believe our eyes. In front of the INM building was a huge crowd of people. The queue even continued in the next street. The end of the line was almost two blocks away. Nonetheless we queued up, accepting that we might have to wait for hours. Security guards were running around screaming information in Spanish. Luckily we found a nice woman close to us in the queue who would translate for us. Unfortunately the system of the Instituto is down, so this is the reason why they could not work until now. We waited for over an hour although the time felt shorter having good conversation with the people next to us. Probably two hours of waiting later we reached the front door of the INM. Here we explained our situation to a woman who organized people regarding their inquiries. She told us to follow her into her office. It turned out that she holds a higher position at the INM and is actually the perfect person to help us. Yet she never heard of a story like ours before. In the end we finally got our tourist card and even better her assistant wrote us an official letter explaining our situation in Spanish in case we get problems again. We left the building more than happy.

Housesitting in México City
This was the easiest housesit so far. We just had to watch Gigi, a black cat with the most beautiful fur.
The apartment in the heart of the city is furnished with a huge amount of plants. Furthermore it has a rooftop with a marvelous view to the Chapultepec Castle, the nearby park and the skyscrapers of the business district. We used the time we got here to relax from the troubles of driving through México.
The district the flat is located is called La Condesa which is a newly trending district with a lot of cute shops, coffee shops and restaurants.
